Welcome to East Durham Bees

I’ve been meaning to put a proper site together for a while, so here it is.

The short version: I keep bees across East Durham, and I collect swarms for anyone in Durham or Tyne and Wear who’s found one has landed somewhere awkward — a fence post, a shed roof, the low branch of a tree. If that’s you, the swarm collection page has everything you need, or you can just call 07921 843676.

The longer version is that I’d like this to be somewhere I actually keep notes through the season rather than a page that goes stale the day it’s published. So expect posts here when:

• a swarm call comes in and it’s worth writing up,
• something in the apiaries is worth a note — first inspection of the year, a split that’s gone well, a queen that hasn’t,
• the coalfield flora does something interesting, which around here happens more than you’d expect.
